3. Orangutans & Elephants

Experience this memorable Sumatra EcoTravel 5-day tour, combinating the adventure of an overnight trek in the Gunung Leuser National Park around Bukit Lawang and the unforgettable visit to the Sumatran elephants in Tangkahan. 

Package includes:

  • DAY 01: Pickup by air-con taxi from Medan airport, transport to Bukit Lawang (3 hours) and check in to your hotel: Ecolodge, Oangutan Room with bathroom, patio with garden view and breakfast
  • DAY 02/03: "Overnight Jungle Adventure" (2-day trek) in the Gunung Leuser National Park: 1 night on a campsite in the jungle
, stop at the Sumatran orangutan feeding platform & traditional tube rafting down the Bohorok River back to Bukit Lawang after trekking: includes English speaking guides, entrance permit in the national park, porter, rafting skipper, cook, all food and drinking water while trekking
, all equipment (tent, mattress, sleeping bag, tubes). Starts at 8:30 am. After trekking 1 more night in Ecolodge, Oangutan Room with bathroom, patio with garden view and breakfast
  • DAY 04: Off road tour by rustic Indonesian 4-wheel drive to Tangkahan (3 hours); note: no air-con! On the way passing villages and plantation and stopping at several places for enjoying the panorama if required. Start at 08:30 am. Check in to your hotel in Tangkahan: Mega Inn Guesthouse, Standard Room with bathroom, terrace and breakfast. In the afternoon 1 hour elephant riding and a lot of fun while washing the elephants in the Buluh River: included entrance permit for the national park, guide (LPT/CRU Tangkahan) 
  • DAY 05: Transport by Indonesian 4-wheel drive (no air-con!) back to Medan, hotel/airport (5 hours)

Package excludes: Camera tax for the Gunung Leuser National park (50.000 IDR/camera), porter for luggage from taxi/bus station to your guesthouse if required (20.000 IDR/bag), storage room fee for big luggage while trekking (20.000 IDR/bag/payble to your guesthouse), lunch, dinner and drinks while staying in Bukit Lawang and in Tangkahan, flights, visa, insurances
